Brenda Kay Thiessen, 63, of Blue Grass, Iowa, passed away December 5, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. Memorials may be made to the Blue Grass Fire Department. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Brenda was born on November 29, 1953 in Davenport, the daughter of Richard and Shirley Vinger Thiessen. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1972 and was employed at Von Maur. She was devoted to her dog, Peanut.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Rhonda Thiessen and Bruce and Linda Thiessen, all of Blue Grass; niece, Courtney (Greg) Farber and their son, Ethan, of Eldridge and nephew, Cory Thiessen, of Davenport. Several uncles, aunts and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary.
