Donald Weakland, 90, Patton, passed away December 6, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born September 21, 1926, in Cresson, son of Blair and Annie (Gallagher) Weakland. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife of 52 years, Theresa (Barrett) Weakland, who died August 26, 2001; daughter, Judith Whiteford; grandson, Cory Weakland; sons-in-law, Rich Whiteford and Andy Abrams; brother, Gus Weakland; sisters, Delrose Mock, Hilda Trinkley and Florence Petrunyak; and companion, Alice Crawford. Survived by children, Donna, wife of Pat Owens, Hastings; Theresa Abrams, Bakerton; Elizabeth (John) Stiffler, Cresson; Don (Rae Ann) Weakland Jr., Hastings; Denise (Gary) Brown, Camden-Wyoming, DE; Joseph (Gloria) Weakland, Northern Cambria; 27 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Don was a dedicated family man who enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren grow throughout the years. He enjoyed spending time playing guitar, writing poetry, CB Radio and watching WWE wrestling, but his life-long passion was being behind the wheel of a truck. A career truck driver, Don easily maneuvered trucks of all kind including tri-axle, low boy, tractor trailer, uke and all sorts of heavy equipment. Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. Friday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery. -
