Ruth Redding Richards of Bremen passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in a local health facility. She was born in Carroll County, January 14, 1917, daughter of the late Guy Foster Redding, Sr. and Oma Dewberry Redding. Mrs. Richards was a member of the Bremen First Baptist Church. She was a thirty year retiree of Sewell Manufacturing Company and for over fourteen years worked at the Bremen Food Bank.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband in 1968, Newt Sims; her second husband in 1992, Burnett Richards; a daughter, Virginia Newborn; a son Jerry Sims and a son-in-law, Charles Heath.
Survivors include her children; Betty and Donald Levans of Temple, Billy and JoAnn Sims of Bremen; Charlsie Heath of Bremen, Maxine and Larry Wright of Bremen; a sister, Irene Morrow of Temple, a brother, Gerald Lee and JoAnn Redding of Bremen; eleven grandchildren, Michael and Jane Levans, Melanie and Mark Clegg, Robin Campbell, Rhonda and Joe Wade, Missy and Ray Calas, Johnny and Jan Sims, Deborah and Joe Sims, Valaria and Keith Golden, Vanessa and Steve Edwards, Jeffery Newborn, Timothy and Daphany Newborn; twenty two great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, December 8 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Brother Herman Parker officiating. Music will be furnished by Randall Redding and Andy Fowler accompanied by Sue Ezzell. Michael Levans, Johnny Sims, Ray Calas, Keith Golden, Jeffery Newborn and Mark Dickinson will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in District Line Church Cemetery.
