Funeral services for Mr. Joe A. Carter, age 74, of Sarepta, LA, will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, LA, with Rev. Todd Pickard officiating. Interment will follow in Old Sarepta Cemetery, Sarepta, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Carter was born on September 15, 1942 to Pink Webb and Gladys Maybell Hughes Carter in Ruston, LA and passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 in Springhill, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Old Sarepta Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by five sisters, Marie C. Gillis of Magnolia, TX, Catherine C. Mattingly and husband, T.J. of Lake Charles, LA, Carrie C. Jones of Sarepta, LA, Alline C. Richardson of Minden, LA and Nelda C. Ronson of North Port, AL.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Lowery Carter; parents and sisters, Susie C. Watters and Linda C. Martin.
