She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Lawrence County, KY. Then she taught elementary school from 1945 at the Delaware Avenue School and Garden City Elementary, both in Fort Pierce, until retirement in 1971.
Survivors include her sons, John A. Lester of Tallahassee and James H. Lester of Vero Beach; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lowell Lester, in 1994; and her son, William Roger Lester, in 1976.
SERVICES: Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon Jan. 9 at Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James M. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
