Death of Col. Adam G. McGuffin:
Adam Givens McGuffin, a prominent citizen of Bath county, died at his residence on Wednesday, May 29th, at the advanced age of 85 years. He held important official positions in that county in years past and represented that county several terms in the Legislature before the war. He was buried in the Warm Springs cemetery on Friday. The funeral services were performed by his pastor, Rev. Wm. C. White.
The Bath News says: — "Col. McGuffin was twice married, his first wife being Miss Orbison, of Rockbridge county. By this marriage he had three sons. David, who lived in Indiana but died in Bath county, on Back Creek, while on his way to his father's home; James McGulHn who died on Jackson's River, and Adam G. McGuffin, of Bolar Springs, who survives him. His second wife, who survives him, was Miss Mary E. Bonner, sister of Jas. W. Bonner. By this second marriage he had two children Cornelia McGuffin who married Charles H. Hyde and died about one year later, and John C. McGuffin a member of the present Board of Supervisors of Bath county."
