Patricia “Pat” Dunn, 88, of McAlester, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 in McAlester. Pat was born to Horace Lee and Nuna Belle (Finch) Smith on October 3, 1928 in Spring Hill, Texas. She attended high school in Texas, then college in Georgetown, Texas, and then the University of Idaho. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and served as an officer with Rainbow International. Pat married Archie “Bud” Dunn on March 20, 1949 in Superior, Montana. While living in Los Angeles, Pat worked as an administrative assistant for RKO Pictures in Hollywood. Her time at RKO allowed her to meet and work with many television and film personalities and industry executives. She attended several Academy Awards ceremonies and other motion picture events. Pat was an impeccable bookkeeper in her professional life as well as her personal life. Pat’s family was her priority. She was adamant that they pursue further education and was proud of her children’s academic accomplishments. She relocated to McAlester to be with her grandchildren. She worked at Sears in McAlester for many years where she made lifelong friends with co-workers and customers. Pat was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved her European visits. Pat was a fabulous cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. Pat was preceded in death by her parents: Horace and Belle Smith; brothers: Jerry Smith and Billy Smith and her husband: Archie “Bud” Dunn on March 25, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. Leonard Higgins. Inurnment will be at a later date.
