"The LaFayette Sun" - August 19, 1931:

Marcoot - For Last Week

Our community was saddened when the news reached here of the death of Nellie Ruth Harmon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harmon. They moved from this community when Nellie was only a small child. Her stay here on earth has been short. She was a little past 15 years of age. She is not dead, but is asleep in Jesus, to awake on the resurrection when all will be called together. Grieve not, dear ones, for God knows and doeth all this well.

AND...

August 26, 1931:

In Loving Memory.

Thursday, August 6th, the gentle spirit of Nellie Ruth Harmon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Harmon, took its flight into the Great Beyond, and to the God who gave it. Nellie bore her suffering in silence, passed away as one fallen asleep. She was so young to die, 15 years of age. We feel she is with her Savior, her spirit basking in the sunshine of His love, to sing with the angelic hosts forever. She will never climb the rugged paths of this life, and is safe within the golden gate, where peace reigns supreme.

There are walls of earth between us,
We can't see Nellie's smile
Again we hope to meet her
In the after while.

- One who loved her, Susie Harmon Christian (her aunt)

AND...

September 9, 1931:

Nellie Ruth Harmon.

Nellie, I am deeply grieved
To know I'll see you here no more
But I hope and do believe
I'll meet you on that happy shore.

We think of you day by day
And long to see your face,
But while I pen these lines today
You are in that heavenly place

I loved you, but God loved you best,
And called you up on high.
There to be forever blest,
I'll meet you by and by,

Now I say farewell, dear friend,
With tears and a sigh,
I hope to see your face again,
Where we'll never say good-bye.

- Her friend, *Malissa Jarrell

*Note: She was in married life Malissa Jarrell Whaley (1916-1977) and also buried in Macedonia Cemetery.
