1932-2016
FLORENCE BAHME (nee Kaplan), 84, died peacefully on November 30, 2016, with her loving family by her side. A first-generation American, born in Los Angeles, California, on November 28, 1932, to David and Yetta Kaplan (nee Rosenberg), she moved to Houston in 1957 after she married the love of her life, Jay Bahme. She was a homemaker, raising three daughters and encouraging and supporting them in their many activities and interests. For years, she was a neighborhood volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She loved to entertain her family, whether at large holiday gatherings or with a simple home-cooked meal. She was always ready with a kind word, a warm smile and an open heart, eager to listen and offer her bits of wisdom. Her greatest joy was spending time with her eight grandchildren, her daughters, sons-in-law, extended family members and, of course, her beloved husband of almost 57 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Mantel, Susan Blumenfeld (Glenn) and Jennifer Bahme (Alberto Alvarez); eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her brother; and her son-in-law, Marshall Mantel.
Friends and family are invited to graveside services on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet, Houston. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates contributions in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice .
