Geneva H. Kempers, 74, died Wednesday, August 21, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. She had been hospitalized since June 12 following a massive stroke. She had spent five weeks in the Marian Health Center in Sioux City and five weeks in Sioux Center.

Services were Saturday, August 24, at 1:30 p.m. at New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Carl Boersma and the Rev. David Ter Haar officiating. Burial was at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Kempers was born to Gerrit and Gertie (Rikkers) Roetman in Hull on September 7, 1921. She attended Hull Christian Grammar School, Western Christian High School and was also a graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City.

For nine and one-half years, she taught in rural schools around Hull and also at Hull Christian School. Later, for a 26 1/2-year span, she taught English and then was librarian at Western Christian High School in Hull.

She married Marlon Kempers on June 27, 1947, in Hull. The couple lived in Sioux Center for two years. They moved to Hull in 1949 and made their home there until July 1994 when they moved back to Sioux Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Timon.
