Norma D. (Burke) Veres
May 19, 1938 – November 23, 2016

Norma D. Veres 78 of Monroe died at 3:43 pm Wednesday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. She had been in poor health for the last two years.

Family and friends may call from 10 am to 2 pm Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Born May 19, 1938 in New Tazewell, Tennessee she was the daughter of Clarence E. and Roxie (Lambert) Burke. She married Ernest B. Veres III on December 18, 1971 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1996.

Norma was employed by Floral City Furniture Company, Federal Department Store, Kline’s Department Store all in Monroe. She also was a long time sales representative for Avon.

Norma was a 1956 graduate of Monroe High School,a member of the junior and senior high school choir. She was also a member of the Monroe and Frenchtown Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Society. She had lived in Monroe since the age of five.

Surviving are her sister Glenda L. Burke of Monroe; step children Daniel (Cheryl) Veres of Cape Coral, Florida, Ernest B (Julie) Veres II of Carleton and Ann (Russell) West of Monroe; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Cecil, Ray and Odra Burke; sisters Violet Burke, Billie Jean Leiderman and Arminta Jane Burke.
