She was married to Clarence Ridgway Porter on 15 May 1911.
She served as director of Masters School in Bellair township and helped organize a PTA. She raised dogs, had a laying flock and large garden.
She had been in failing health for a number of years and was a patient at Chariton and Corydon nursing homes before admittance to St Joseph Hospital, Centerville, IA.
She is survived by her husband, a retired rural mail carrier; daughter Velma Shook, West Union, Wis and two sons: Charles, Rockford, Ill and Joe, Iowa Falls, Ia; grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, John and Charles Brinkley of Promise City, Myrle Swan, Seymour; Goldie Shriver, Centerville; Raymond Brinkley, Davenport; Anna Reed, Clearfield, Ida Gray, Ottumwa and Roy Brinkley, Rockford, Il.
Funeral services were held at Liggett Funerahl Home, Seymour and burial was in the Jerome Cemetery.
