Heaven gained another angel.
Frances V. Cuéllar entered eternal life on Sunday, November 27, 2016.
Frances was born to Desiderio Vallez and Andreita Gonzáles Vallez on April 8, 1929 in Pueblito, NM. When she was eight years old and after the death of her father, the family moved into "town", Socorro.
Being the oldest daughter of a widowed mother, she helped raise her two younger brothers, Emilio and Juan José "JJ". Frances graduated from Socorro High School in 1948. During her senior year, one of her proudest moments was when she was crowned Sun Bowl Princess in El Paso, TX.
Frances married the love of her life, Samuel "Sonny" Cuéllar in 1950 and moved to Dallas, Texas where Sonny became a chef at the Hotel Adolphus.
In Dallas, Sonny and Frances were blessed with four children, Janet, Sammy, Billy and Patti. In early 1959, they moved back to Socorro to raise their children closer to family. Jolinda was later born in Albuquerque.
Frances worked in the food industry with Sonny for many years and later was employed by the Socorro Public Schools, first as a secretary and then as a Home School Liaison. Frances loved going into the homes of children to ensure they received the help they needed to stay in school. Frances loved to travel but it was the experiences and the people she met that she loved the most. Frances never missed a birthday, holiday or special event in her families lives. Frances was so generous, loving, and caring that she easily became "Granny" to so many people. Frances will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding Frances in death are her parents, her husband, Sonny, son, Sammy, granddaughter, Denise Montoya and brother, Emilio.
Frances is survived by her children, Janet Montoya, Billy Cuéllar (Karen), Patti Zimmerman (Michael) and Jolinda Cuéllar, grandchildren, Michele Montoya, Mitchell Cuéllar, Erin Zimmerman (Tyler Skaggs), Carmen Rarick (Justin) and Kayla Zimmerman (Keegan Thomas-Chappell), great-grandchildren, Chanel Hefter, Caden Hefter and Emma Lynn Rarick, brother, JJ Vallez and sister-in-law, Monica Catherine Vallez.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, NM, with Father John Anasiudu as Celebrant. Interment will follow at San Miguel Cemetery where she will be buried in the family plot. Pallbearers will be Rick Griego, Darryl Cases, David Griego, Michael Montoya, Thurman Derryberry Jr. and Justin Rarick. Honorary pallbearers are Juan José Vallez, Richie Lucero, Caden Hefter, Mitchell Cuéllar and Michael R. Zimmerman.
