Received 21/May/2012 from Joan (Wyatt) Bradley (no source provided, and contains some errors):
John Wilford Austin, born about 1872 in Tennessee, was apparently orphaned as a young child and was reared in the home of John William Wheeler and wife, Missianair N. (Brown) Wheeler. He is listed in their home in the 1880 Spring Creek, Dent County, MO census as "adopted son", age 8, but he retained his birth surname throughout his life.
John Austin married Maud Lamb in 1894 in Springfield, MO. She was the daughter of Dr. Isaac Patrick Lamb and Sarah Howard of Indiana.
John and Maud had a son, Emory Earl Austin, in 1895. Tragically, John died in 1897 in Oregon County, MO, leaving behind a young widow and son. Maud later remarried to John Lawrence Sherman and she and her son moved with him to Houston, TX, where they lived out their lives.
