YAKIMA - Kenneth E. "Bud" Blankenship, 79, Yakima, passed away in his home, Thursday, January 4, 2007 surrounded by his family. He was born March 18, 1927 in Packwood, Washington the fourth of seven children born to Huling and Angeline Blankenship.

Kenneth was well known throughout the Yakima and Lower Valley for his self employed business, hauling wood shavings from Layman's Lumber in Naches to livestock yards, horse breeders, mink farms and various other ranches throughout the valley. Bud was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with family taking trips to the Oregon Coast, water skiing, dancing, bowling and horse racing. After his retirement he loved to travel and take care of his animals and birds. He especially enjoyed the time spent tending to his beautiful rose garden in his back yard.

He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Blankenship of Eugene, OR, Teresa and husband, Rodger Noel of Yakima, and Jana Blankenship of Selah, WA; one granddaughter, Shelley Matson of Yakima; his "adopted daughter", Margie Owens of Selah, WA; three sisters, Edna Neil of Packwood, WA, Edith Silvaggio of Yakima, Dorothy and husband, Donald Lintott of Seattle, WA; two brothers, John and wife, Dorothy Blankenship of Ravensdale, WA and Lee Blankenship and his companion, Margo Schultz of Cle Elum, WA. Bud is also survived by his loving companion, Pat Shafer of Yakima.

He was preceded in death by his parents, youngest sister, Shirley Kruse of Jacksonville, OR and his loving wife of 49 years, Lola Blankenship.

Visitation will be held from12:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday and 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Concluding services and burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park.
