Homer Mattox Helms, 59, of 1880 Pine Ave., Long Beach, Calif., died there Saturday.
Funeral plans are incomplete pending the arrival of the body at Lady’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis.
The family will be at the home of a daughter. Mrs. Brendy Farley, 500 N. White St., Concord, during the interim.
Mr. Helms was a Mecklenburg County native, son of the late C. L. Helms and Mrs. Lola Phillips Helms.
He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Plyler of Locust, Mrs. Gail Allman of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Frances Garrett, Mrs. Jaqueline Poe, Mrs. Joyce Britt and Mrs. Farley, all of Concord; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Hagler of Concord, Mrs. Carrie Creason of Salisbury and Mrs. Lonie Love of Locust; four brothers, J. D. Helms of Midland, Preston Helms of Oakboro, Ray Helms of Concord, Morton Helms of Monroe; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Homer Maddox Helms, 59, of Long Beach, Calif., will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel Lady’s Funeral Home. Rev.Kenneth Haigler and Rev. Glennon Balser will officiate. Interment will follow in Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home and the family will receive friends there from 7 until 9 p.m. today.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Frances Garrett, Mrs. Jacqueline Poe, Mrs. Joyce Pritt and Mrs. Branda Farley of Concord. Mrs. Dorothy Plyler of Locust and Mrs. Gail Allman of Mt. Pleasant; four brothers, J.D. Helms of Midland, Preston of Oakboro, Ray of Concord and Martin of Monroe; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Heglar of Concord, Mrs. Carrie Creason of Salisbury, Mrs. Lonie Love of Locust.
