She was born September 22, 1947, in Parkersburg to the late Clifford Elsworth and Nora Cobb Sams.
She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, enjoyed bingo and loved her family.
She is survived by one son, Byron (Sarah) O’Neill; and one daughter, Renee Butterfield, both of Parkersburg. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Adrienne Butterfield, Maggie O’Neill and Walker O’Neill; and a great-grandson, Lucas Coss; two brothers, Larry (Mary) Sams of Wellsville, Ohio, and Gary (Mary) Sams of Florida; and four nephews and one niece.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Byron Alwin O’Neill; one brother, Curtis Sams; and one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Sams.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg, with Evangelist Tom Butterfield officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
