Glenn E. Larson, 90, Ada, Minnesota, passed away at home on November 23, 2016.

Glenn Elton Larson was born August 30, 1926, at the home farm in McDonaldsville township to Selmer and Anna (Hoven) Larson. He was baptized In November, 1926, at the Lutheran parsonage in Ada. He graduated from Ada High School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1944, and spent 15 months on the USS South Dakota in the South Pacific Theater. He was discharged from the Navy in June 1946. Glenn spent the next several months travelling throughout the United States with his boyhood friends, Jarl, George, and Tiff. He attended North Dakota Ag College (now NDSU) from 1948 to 1950. Glenn returned home to farm, growing wheat and sugarbeets, and raising shorthorn cattle.

He married Myrna Ruch on Nov, 16, 1955, in Webster, South Dakota. Together they made a home and raised their six children on the farm south of Ada. Glenn farmed and was supportive and active in the Ada and Borup communities. He was a member of the Ada VFW Post 7557 and the Ada American Legion Post. He served on the Veterans’ Honor Guard. He was a past member of the Norman County ASCS Committee; on the McDonaldsville Township board, serving as clerk for many years; and a supporter of 4-H. Glenn enjoyed playing cards, board games, and bowling with his family. He loved playing pinochle or whist with his card buddies in Ada and Borup. He was on a bowling league for fifty plus years. Glenn made great memories at deer camp with DK, Gilman, friends, and family. He was an avid reader and could tell you just about any fact regarding history or geography, and was a whiz at Trivial Pursuit, Jeopardy, and crosswords. He was interested in genealogy and family histories. Glenn loved to travel, especially the back roads, which led to many interesting stories; he had visited 49 states. He and his granddaughter, Amy, traveled to Washington DC in 2007 with the WDAY Honor Flight. Glenn had a knack for growing things and loved planting and gardening, especially his sweet corn, providing his kids and grandkids with great memories of selling corn at their roadside stand. Children and grandchildren came and went through the years, thereby dubbing his farm the Last Chance Ranch. He continued to watch over the farming activities after he retired, checking the crops and lending a hand to Lars’ farming operation. He and Myrna shared their love of sports, watching countless games of the Ada Vikings/AB Cougars, Minnesota Vikings, and Minnesota Twins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Anna Larson, his in-laws, Harold and Bertha Ruch, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ron & Mabel Ruch, Mike Ruch, Renee & Earl Hovden, Loren Krogstad.

Funeral: 3:00PM Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Visitation: On Saturday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the funeral home.
