Peter Lorenz Greenwell, 84, Warrenton, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at Mexico Veterans Home, Mexico, Mo.

Peter, a hairdresser, was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Kirkwood, the son of Joseph Francis Greenwell and wife Mary Blanche. He was in the U.S. Air Force and served his country in the Korean War. Peter loved gardening. He also was an avid reader, history buff, and spent years researching the Greenwell family genealogy. Peter loved jazz and dancing to Big Band. He also loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Peter was a loving, gentle, hands-on husband and father who every day made sure to tell his children that he loved them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Peter was the beloved husband of Judith Greenwell, nee Lone, Warrenton. He also is survived by his son, Peter L. Greenwell Jr.; two daughters, Amy L. Warren and Sarah A. Ingle; one brother, the Rev. Joseph Greenwell, CSSR; one sister, Gerry Farrell; and eight grandchildren, Hannah, Lily, Pete "Liu Pete," Marley, David Jr., Rebekah, William and Joshua.

Peter was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Francis Greenwell; mother, Mary Blanche; three brothers, Louis Greenwell, Paul Greenwell and Davis Greenwell; and two sisters, Dorothy Bopp and Mary Pilla.

Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 904 S. Highway 47, Warrenton.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warrenton.

Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.

Memorials to Missouri Veterans Home, Mexico, Mo., in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred.
