Sara Ann Morrell Woods, 82, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016 at her home following an extended illness.
She was born in Sullivan County and had lived in Church Hill the majority of her life. She was formerly employed at Holston Valley Medical Center and Hawkins County School System along with being a wonderful wife and mother. Mrs. Woods was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for over 40 years along with other capacities within the church. She truly loved serving others and who was a loving, caring, and genuine individual.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald L. Woods; parents, Major and Naomi Akard Morrell.
Sara Woods is survived by her daughter, Dianne Gollehon and husband, Mark; sons, Wayne Woods and wife, Michelle, Myron Lee Woods; a sister, Margaret Fogleman; brothers, Sam Morrell and wife, Nevilla, Kyle Morrell and wife, Georgia; a brother-in-law, John Samuel (J.S) Woods and wife, Norma Jean; her sister-in-law, Fawn Woods along with several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Woods family.
