In fond remembrance of Laura A. Anderson, lifelong resident of her hometown of La Junta, Colorado, a place on old mother earth that she dearly loved.

Born under the clear blue prairie skies of La Junta Colorado, Laura Anna Fivash was born to her parents Rena Viola and Herman C. Fivash on June 14, 1921. She attended schools in La Junta, was a member of the 1940 high school graduating class and attended Brown’s Business College in La Junta. She was married to Robert Brown and had her only child Laurena May Brown. She was married in 1965 to her husband Dallas C. Anderson and enjoyed a long and happy marriage. Laura left this life on Thursday November 17, 2016.

Laura was an accountant for McKenzie Music and Furniture Company for 20 years and for La Junta Municipal Utilities for 10 years. She belonged to and served as the recorder for the Royal Neighbors Lodge and was a charter member of The Business and Professional Women’s Organization in La Junta as well as a longtime member of the Prairie Bible Chapel as her spiritual home and gathering place with her friends there.

She was an avid crochet, knitter and needlework expert, creating many prize winning pieces of work. She loved to teach anyone to crochet or knit and pass on the skills.
She was residing in Skilled Nursing care in Broomfield, CO the last months of her life. In loving memory of a life well lived by a spunky little lady, she will be missed.

She lived a long and happy life for these 95 years and is survived by her grandchildren, Tracey Miller and Christopher Greenman; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Haley and Tristen from Tracey and Annabel Leigh from Christopher; her niece Sandra Fowler and family, her son-in-law David S. Greenman. Her beloved step-children, Dallas L. (Linda) Anderson and family; Charlene “Suzie” (Jon) Wickham and family; Carolyn Meyers and family, and John Clair Anderson and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas C. Anderson; grandparents, Benjamin Franklin and Laura Alice Fivash; Nicholas and Anna Rogers; parents Herman C. and Rena Viola Fivash; sister, Mattie May Fowler and brother-in-law, Jack H. Fowler, her precious daughter, Laurena May Greenman; nephew, Jack H. Fowler Jr., and a long list of family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Maynard Bowen of the Prairie Bible Chapel officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
