MCGUIRE-Mrs. Marjorie Antoinette Latimer McGuire, wife of Frank E. McGuire of Easton, died December 14, 1996 in her home. She was the eldest of three daughters of Herbert G. and Julia H. Latimer. She was a lineal descendant of Elder William Brewster who came to America on the Mayflower in 1620. Her children are members of the society of Mayflower Descendants. Her family are direct descendants of Capt. Robert Latimer who settled in New London in 1661. She was also a descendant o the Hon. Capt. Christopher Christophers born Dec. 2, 1682 at New London and graduated from Yale College In 1702. She was also related to Col. Jonathan Latimer under whom Lt. Nathan Hale served until asked to spy on the British by Gen. George Washington. Her grandfather was Bralnerd G. Latimer who was the first President of the Willlamburg Eye, Ear and Throat hospital and senior trustee of the Williamburg Savings Bank in NY. He also in 1854 founded the B.G. Latimer furniture and carpet business in Brooklyn, NY. Her father and her uncle continued the business until 1934. It Is sufficient to say she was a credit to her ancestors and an Inspiration to her own family. In addition to her husband, Mrs. McGuire is survived by three of her four children. Frank Brainerd and Virginia Lou McGuire of Easton and Shella Walsh and son-in-law, Robert Walsh of Scottsdale, Arizona; four grandchildren and four greaf-grandchildren. Private funeral services were held Monday with Rev. Robert J. Hyl, Pastor of Notre Dame Church . Easton, officiating. Burial took place in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield, CT. The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.
