Mr. Stauffenberg was born in Philadelphia and retired from the U.S. Navy after 27 years. He was a member of Norview United Methodist Church, Charles T. Morton Masonic Lodge (NU)232, Scottish Rite Bodies and Khedive Shrine Temple. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, E. JoAnn Stauffenberg; two sons, Alfred W. "Trey" Stauffenberg III of Virginia Beach and Erik Stauffenberg of Hampton; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Beth Stauffenberg and Andrew Jackson Stauffenberg.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Frank James. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
