Aden was my next door neighbor when I was growing up. He taught me the correct way to cut hay with a sythe and how to sharpen tools on his wet stone. He would let me and my sister feed his chickens and collect the eggs. He still had an outhouse and a big wood fired cook stove. He owned a 1951 blue Ford sedan with a standard transmission. He would race the engine when he backed it out of the garage. He was a little over 4 feet tall so he had to look through the steering wheel. He said his height was good for working in the mines. he didn't need to bend over. He would fix our toys when they broke and chase us with the garden hose on hot days. He had a stroke which paralyzed his arm. He chopped wood for a week using both arms until he got the use of the paralyzed arm back. We had a lot of fun. I still miss him.
