WATSON, CHRISTINA MAE THOMAS "TINA", age 26, of Helena, died October 22, 2003 in a diving accident of the shore of Townsville, Australia while on her honeymoon, after which they planned to return to their new home in Hoover, AL. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was a Manager in the Boys and Girls Dept. at Parisian's Riverchase Galleria Store. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel with burial in Southern Heritage Cemetery. Rev. Craig and Suzie Greer officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors: husband, Gabe Watson; parents, William E. and Cindy Thomas of Helena; sister, Alanda Thomas; grandparents, Marcus and Retha Phillips of Jasper, Louise Thomas of Guin; aunt and uncle, Gene and Edna Waddell; cousins, Cheryl Rockwell Clint Waddell, and Carol Rivas, all of Midland, TX, Krissie McCampbell of Conyers, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the "Tina Thomas Watson Memorial Fund" that has been established at the AmSouth Bank on Hwy 150 in Hoover, AL. Her husband of 11 days David Gabriel Watson was indicted for murder in Australia but pleaded guilty to manslaughter & sentenced to four & a half years in prison & only had to serve 12 months. This decision was appealed & he had to serve another 6 months. He was also indicted for murder in Alabama but this case was dismissed for lack of evidence.

Her grave was unmarked 'til 2009 & any flowers & gifts left by her family were thrown away by her husband. By the time her father died in 2015 there was a double stone here for he & his widow & a single stone next to it for their daughter Tina. The stone lists her maiden name Thomas.
