January 11, 1877
Reed, Morris R. - son of Thomas and Catharine, died at his father's residence on Friday, December 29, 1876, aged 8 months. Little Morris was sitting in a chair before the fire, and the elder brother, about 2 years old, ran against the chair, throwing him into the fire. He was immediately taken out by his mother, but his face and head were burned so badly that all efforts to save him proved in vain. He suffered severely for 7 days, when his spirit sent home to the God who gave it. The body was taken to the Baptist Church, along with the remains of an infant son of Winfield Reed, who died the same day. Their little bodies were then laid in the grave to await the resurrection morn.
