Son of Austin and Jane (Allison) Ford. Moved to Missouri in 1840, settling in Clark County. His mother moved him to Clay County in 1851. Around 1856, he moved to Ray County, in between Richmond & Elkhorn. He married Martha "Patsy" Davis in 1857.
After Martha died in the 1890's, and in the early 1900's, Charles was moved into the County Poor Farm, 5 miles northeast of Richmond. In April 1910, he was moved into the County Home in western Richmond. He died there a few months later, on Thanksgiving.
He was survived, by his daughter, Lucy Luellyn. His son, Charley, died a year prior. He was also survived by a sister, Mollie Davis of Richmond, and a brother, Robert A. Ford of near Lawson.
