Early Life: Melissa was born in St. George, Utah, on June 4, 1924, to William Arthur Whitehead and Clara Myrtle Watson Whitehead. She attended Dixie High School, Dixie Junior College and University of Utah.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Melissa was employed by Beneficial Life Insurance Company for 8½ years; Standard Oil Company of California in San Francisco for 7 years. She ended her 27 year career at the University of Utah's College of Business as Assistant to the Dean. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Melissa held several positions in Sunday School and YWMIA. She served as a missionary on Temple Square to the Huong people, hostess at Temple Square Visitors Center, as well as ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Melissa Whitehead died November 10, 2016, at Canyon Breeze Assisted Living in Orem, Utah. She was 92.
Survived By: Her sisters: Mona Rae Nielsen (Bennett) and Patricia Cobia (David).
Preceded In Death By: Her parents; four brothers: Calvert, Preston, Arthur, William; and two sisters: DeVora and LaVerd. She is the favorite aunt of her 22 nieces and nephews.
