Lonnie Harley Barrett passed away on June 30th, 2016 at the age of 83. He died peacefully surrounded by friends and family. He is preceded by his parents Harley and Elma Barrett, and his brothers Don and Ronnie. He is survived by his brother Jim. He was born, raised, and attended school in Ferndale. During this time, he also had the opportunity to tour all 48 states with his family. Upon graduation he went to work for Pacific Coast Paper Mills. During the Korean conflict he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was deployed on the USS Hornet. He traveled through the Panama Canal, Japan, Italy, and Greece. Post Navy, Lonnie resumed work at the mill where he worked for a time before leaving to become the "Culligan Man". He devoted the next 25 years expanding water treatment into water monitoring, bottled water, and Fanta Sea swimming pools. He also did commercial water treatment in Alaska and Mexico. In his free time, he was active in the community serving with Kiwanis and the Mental Health Board. He lived his entire life in Whatcom County. Marrying his wife Judi, raising his daughter Karen (Dean), sons Paul (Leah) and Jeff (Michelle) and spoiling his grandchildren Annika, Sydney, Jase and Naomi Lonnie was about family, community, and country. He lived 83 years of a life well spent. A celebration of his life will be held Aug 1, 2016, 2:00 pm at the Windows on the Bay 2625 So. Harbor Loop Dr. (inside Bellingham Yacht Club Building) Bellingham, WA 98225 In lieu of flowers, donations to Whatcom Hospice or favorite charity.
