Martha Jeanne Madden passed away on October 22, 2016 in Las Cruces, New Mexico after a courageous struggle with Parkinson's disease. She was born July 30, 1931 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Norman Roy and Mary Carolyn TenEyck Appleton. She was a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado. She had lived in Las Cruces since 1975. Her husband John Henry Madden II (Jack) preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by a son Kenneth Douglas Madden (Ingrid) and two grandchildren: Taeus and Sophia of Olympia, Washington; and a son Norman Kirk Madden (Stephanie) and four grandchildren: Max, Taylor, Terra and Jake of Loveland, Colorado. She is also survived by a brother David TenEyck Appleton (Geraldine) of Green Valley, Arizona.

An avid golfer, a lover of music and a devoted family member, Martha lived a full life. Her optimistic attitude, endearing smile and quick wit will be long remembered by family and friends alike.
At her request, her cremains will be interred with her husband's in the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There will be no local services.
