The Austin Daily Herald 1951-02-17 page 11: John Lewison, son of Lassie and Christie Trulsen, was born November 29, 1862, in Dane County, Wisconsin.
He came to the Adams vicinity in 1864, together with his parents, at the age of two years, and settled on a farm in Lodi Township.
He was confirmed in the Little Cedar Lutheran Church on July 21, 1878, by Pastor B.B. Gjeldaker, and has always been a member of the congregation.
His marriage to Miss Ragnild Hegge, took place on July 11, 1885. To this union 12 children were born. They made their home on the farm in Lodi Township until in 1944 he moved to Adams to live with his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Hanneman. Mrs. Lewison passed away on February 9, 1930, and was buried from this church 21 years ago today, February 14, 1951.
Mr. Lewison has been bedridden for the past 2-1/2 years, suffering from complications of old age. His death occured early Saturday morning, February 10, at the age of 88 years. 2 months, and 12 days. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Fe. 14, the same day as the funeral of Mrs. Lewison, 21 years ago. Private services for the family were conducted from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hanneman, and from the Little Cedar Lutheran church, M. L. Witte, pastor.
The following children survive: Arthur of Adams; Rachael, Mrs. Melvin Johnson of Orland, California; Edwin, Spokane, Washington; Mabel, Mrs. Hanneman of Adams; Lawrence of Adams; John Jr., Rose Creek; Hattie, Mrs. Tuchtenhagen of Albert Lea; Orris of Adams; Nordeen of Adams; Earl of Adams; Vernon of Orland, California. One daughter, Clara, died as a child. There are 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the following sons of the deceased, Arthur, Lawrence, John, Jr., Orris, Nordeen, Earl and Vernon. Relatives from a distance who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lewison of Orland, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Christenson, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hovey, Mrs. H. Iverson, Cresco, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Ulven, Mrs. John Larson and Laura Quale, Austin.
