Altoona Tribune, Monday, June 19, 1916, p. 12:

MARTIN GORMAN

At 1:30 yesterday afternoon Martin Gorman, a prominent resident of Newry, died at his home following a stroke which he suffered last Thursday. Deceased was born at Springfield Mines April 16, 1855, and was married forty-two years ago to Miss Penina Baird, of Kladder. To this union eight children were born, three of whom are living, as follows: George, of Roaring Spring; John, of Altoona, and Mrs. Tunneyhill, of Lakemont. There are also sixteen surviving grandchildren. Mr. Gorman's aged mother, Mrs. Catherine Gorman, of Clappertown, survives and also the following brothers and sisters: Robert, of Royer; Thomas, of Ore Hill; Mrs. Jennie Lang and Mrs. Lewis, both of Williamsburg. Mr. Gorman had been a resident of Newry for a great many years and was well known. He was a member of Independent Order Odd Fellows and Knights of Golden Eagle. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Lutheran church at Newry and interment will follow in the Lutheran cemetery.
