Donnie Ruyle, Great Grandnephew of Mary Ellen Coleman .
There is a particularly rare (but not unheard of) problem with Mary's death certificate, in that it has the wrong names down as her parents. The dates and locations match up with the Mary Ellen Coleman that is buried next to Alfred Whitsett Boone, who was her second husband. Her first husband was George W Riggs, and she had their son Nathaniel R Riggs with him. After George's passing Mary married Alfred Whitsett Boone, and bore four more children with him. Her death certificate is under her married name Mary E Boone, and her son Nathaniel R Riggs was the informant on it.
Mary's death certificate had William & Mary E Coleman as her parents, so I searched many hours for a couple by that name that had a daughter named Mary E that would have been born in the correct time and place, and there was no one. We also have a guardianship document that mentions Mary and her son Nathanial, and her father Timothy T Coleman, as well as some other documents. It is my final conclusion that Mary was in fact the daughter of Timothy T and Martha A "Patsy" (Shreve) Coleman, despite the mistake Nathaniel made on the death certificate.
