EAST LIVERPOOL — James “Jim” C. Butler, 84, of East Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, after a short illness, at the Weirton Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 8, 1932, in Clarington, W.Va., the son of the late Clyde and Evah E. Hickman Butler.

Jim was preceded in death by his brothers Chuck, Donald, Roger and Paul Butler; sisters Evelyn Butler, Ethel Tice and Ruth Wiseman; and granddaughter Kimberly Taucher.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in East Liverpool.

Jim enjoyed wood working and tinkering with his tractors. He retired from Beaver Local School District, where he worked for many years as the maintenance supervisor.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife, Maureen Capehart Butler; daughters Shawn Taucher of West Point, and Carolyn Gbur and her husband Bob of East Liverpool; stepchildren Leslie Reckner and her husband Charles of Lisbon, Robin Sorensen and her husband Don of Columbus, and Trent Smith of Columbus; brother Dale Butler of East Liverpool; sister Alice Riffle of Junior, W.Va.; grandchildren Michael and Bradley (Brandis) Kosonovich, Jennifer Tindell (Don), Bobby and Melissa Gbur, Jeff Walter, Richard Lowe and Tiffany Lowe, Brittany, Ty, and Lynsey Reckner, Quinn Smith and Collin and Drake Sorensen; great-grandchildren Sarah and Tyler Tindell, Talia Kosonovich, Aiden and Kylie Gbur, Mikey and Tommy Stefl and Jenna and Dylan Lowe.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date. The Arner Funeral Chapel is in charge of assisting with these arrangements.
