Bill Aaron, Sr. passed away peacefully at the Soldiers Home in St. James, Mo, where he had lived for the last three years of his life. As a young man, William Walter Aaron enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps at Scott Field, Illinois in September, 1942, and went overseas December, 1943, where he served with the 15th Air Force. Sgt. Aaron was assigned to the 450th Bomb Group Cottontails as a maintenance technician and airplane mechanic based in Italy. For his service he was awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the The European-African Middle East Theatre Ribbon with eleven bronze battle stars. He was discharged in September, 1945. In 1947 he was appointed as a member of the Army Advisory Committee for the Fifth United States Army in Rolla.

Bill married his childhood sweetheart, and love of his life, Hazel Carroll, on September 4, 1941. Bill and Hazel lived on and worked the farm west of Rolla that had been in the Aaron family for 100 years. He grew up working with his father on the farm and at the family business, an automobile dealership. After coming home from the war, Bill started Aaron’s Radiator Service and Aaron’s Boats and Motors that remained successful Rolla businesses for many years.

Bill was a life-long member of Rolla Masonic Lodge # 213 A.F & A.M., York Rite, Scottish Rite, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Club and Eastern Star. He served as Rajah to the South Central Missouri Shrine Club and enjoyed entertaining children (both young and old) as a SOCMO Clown. He actively sought out and transported many children to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis. He was a member of the Rolla VFW Post #2025 and a past-commander of the American Legion Post #270. He was a member of the Greentree Christian Church.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (Carroll) Aaron, his parents William D. and Lynna Aaron, his sister, Dorothy Stayton and brother, Tom Aaron. He will be sadly missed by his children Susan (Reuben) Kellems, Bill (Judi) Aaron, Jr., Richard (Deena) Aaron, grand-children David (Tammy ) Hills, DeLisa(DJ) Dillard, Lindsay (Chet) Callahan, Heather Wilson, Bill (Jenni) Aaron III, Christy (Richard) Dalton, Micah(Nicole) Aaron, Ami Becker, 15 great grand-children, one great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation held at the James and Gahr Mortuary November 11, 2016, with Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service held November 12, 2016. Interment with full military honors at Pea Ridge Cemetery.
