Born in Philadelphia, Rita was the daughter of the late George and Amelia (Birkofer) Brumbaugh.
Rita was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Jonathan K. Hames, in 2005.
Mrs. Hames was a graduate of Ambler High School, Class of 1942. She was employed as a bookkeeper by Chemical Concentrates until her retirement.
Rita was a faithful parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Ambler, where she was a member of the Ladies' Guild and the Charismatic Group. She enjoyed playing cards, and belonged to several Pinochle and Bridge groups.
Rita was the loving mother of three daughters, Nancy Basham and her husband, James, of Waldoboro, Maine; Kay Covington and her husband, Charles, of Doylestown; and Joanne Daniels and her husband, Mark McAfee, of Horsham. She was the treasured grandmother of five, and great grandmother of four.
Friends and relatives are invited to call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Mary Chapel at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 259 Forest Avenue, Ambler, Pa., followed by her funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
