Louise Elisabeth Baumgardt was the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Nehf) Baumgardt. She and George E. Leitner were married on June 21, 1916, in Tippecanoe County, IN.

Louise Elizabeth Baumgardt Leitner, 77, of Rt. 10, died at 1:10 PM Tuesday [Feb. 18, 1969] in Burnetts Convalescent Home. Born in Lafayette, she had lived here all of her life. She had been a patient in the nursing home since 1967, and had suffered a stroke on Feb. 15.

In 1916, she was married to George E. Leitner, in Lafayette, and they lived on the farm which was settled by his family in the early days of Indiana. He died in 1967. Mrs. Leitner was graduated from St. James School, and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Surviving are a son, John F. Leitner, who lives at the Rt. 10 farm; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Erath of South Bend, Mrs. Robert VanCamp and Mrs. Kenneth Clymer, both of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Knab of South Bend and Mrs. Adam Ullman of Lafayette; three brothers, Louis Baumgardt of Indianapolis, Emil Baumgardt of West Lafayette, and Albert Baumgardt of Lafayette; and four grandchildren.
