Edgar Duncan Burts, age 84, died August 14, 2009. Born in Columbus, GA, on April 17, 1925.

He moved to Central Florida in 1964. Burts was retired from the USAF. He served in WWII as a fighter pilot and was recalled during the Korean War. He flew combat missions in Korea and also in Vietnam. He loved flying both in the military and in civilian life. He was a certified flight instructor and flew everything from Hot Air Balloons, Gliders, and many types of aircrafts from single engine up to four engine jets.

He attended Auburn University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and also attended the University of Tennessee. He was a member of the Retired Officers Assoc., Air Force Assoc., and P-51 Fighters Pilots Assoc. He was a Baptist.

Upon retirement from USAF he was employed as a civilian by the Air Force and worked at Patrick AFB and Cape Canaveral during all of the space programs, landing men on the moon. Upon the completion of the moon landings he was assigned to the Naval Training Center in Orlando, where he retired after 20 years of civil service.

He is survived by his sons, Edgar Jr., Athens,GA, Chase, Knoxville, TN, Laura Schmidt of Winter Park. He had seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
