LENA LOUDEANE THOMAS

Lena Loudeane Thomas, mother of the late Sam A. Thomas, long-time Abilene school principal and the namesake of Sam A. Thomas Elementary School, died in Spring Branch, Texas, Thursday, July 14th (1994).

Mrs. Thomas was born in Montgomery County, Texas on February 4, 1901. She lived in Abilene 16 years before moving to the Houston area. She was a member of Minter Lane Church of Christ in Abilene.

She is survived by her daughter: Mrs. Dorothy Morse of The Woodlands; daughter-in-law: Mrs. Judy Thomas of Abilene and Mrs. Geraldine Thomas of Houston; and sister-in-law: Ruby Thomas of Groesbeck. Eight grandchildren, including Dr. Samuel A. Morse of Plano, Linda Morse Thurber of Fort Jackson, SC, Daphne Morse Cummins of Houston, Deana Morse Ashford of Spring, Connie Thomas Santiff of Houston, Paul David Thomas of Houston, Staci Thomas of Houston and Brandon Scott Thoms of Arlington also survive. In addition, Mrs. Thomas is survived by 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. B. Thomas, her sons, A. B. Thomas, Jr., and Sam A. Thomas and her son-in-law, Sam A. Morse.

Her funeral was July 16th (1994) in The Woodlands, Texas. Burial was in Groesbeck, Texas on Sunday, July 17, 1994.
