Elizabeth, daughter of Neddie and Kitty Delozier, was born near Gerster, Mo., Jan. 28, 1845, and died March 3, 1922, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Miers, in Calhoun, Mo., aged 77 years, 1 month and 3 days. All her childhood and early girlhood was spent at the old home near Gerster, Mo., and just at the breaking out of the Civil War and at the early age of 16 she was married Dec. 26, 1861, to Thos. Milton Dodson. The young husband being called to service in a short time after their marriage she spent the three years of the war in the home of her brother, James Delozier, of Leesville, waiting patiently and prayerfully for the coming of her soldier husband and together they spent 51 years of blissful and happy wedded life, the husband passing to his reward in July 1912. To this happy union twelve children were given, all of whom are left to mourn this grand old Puritan mother. The children are: Mrs. Frank Duvall, Mrs. Chas. Miers, Mrs. John Sanders, Mrs. Geo. Sanders, Mrs. Virgil Dunning, Francis, Commerce, Ben Dodson, Griff Dodson, Thomas and Karry Dodson, Henry and Walter; 48 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Beck, James and Crum Delozier; sisters, Mrs. Tize Jacobs, and Mrs. Ann Wilson. She was converted and joined the Tebo Baptist church some 30 years ago, later removing her membership to Pleasant Valley Baptist church. All her children were present for the funeral except one son who was confined to his bed with the flu. The funeral services were held at the Brownington Baptist church, March 6, 1922, after which she was laid to rest beside her husband in the Maplewood cemetery.
