--Bessie was a daughter of Gaston Henry and wife Martha Jane Johnson. She had a twin sister, Virginia. The family still lived in Anson County in 1900. They had moved to Charlotte by 1910.
--She married Charles O. Godwin on Dec. 26, 1915 in Mecklenburg County. Sadly, her husband took his own life in 1937.
--Cause of death: coronary occlusion.
