Born October 25, 1930, in Dallas, Texas, passed away on February 2, 2008, in Dallas, TX. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Dallas, attended Randolph Macon Woman's College, Lynchburg, VA and SMU where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Betty was on the board from more than 20 years for Presbyterian Hospital Healthcare Foundation, member of the Hesitation Club, Christ the King Catholic Church and Altar Society, Brookhollow Golf Club and Midland Country Club. Preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Dan and Marie Simkins Brannin and her husband William Dimmitt McBee Jr. in 1998. Survived by her son William D. McBee III and wife Maria and their children Madison and Meredith; son Michael B. McBee and wife Kelly and their children Brannin, Michael and Katie; daughter Mary Louise McBee and her children Emily Deaton and Natalie Deaton; Margaret McBee Schwab and husband Carl and their children Mary Elizabeth, Maggie, and John; daughter Elizabeth McBee Maguire and her children Megan and Kathleen; sister Ann Brannin Weber and husband Louis J. Weber Jr.; brother Dan Brannin Jr. and wife Ann; sister and brothers-in-law, Ann and Patrick Buell, Michael and Tina McBee; and numerous cousins. Honorary Pallbearers are Dick Bass, Pat Buell, Tom Buell, Leo Corrigan, Henry Lindsley, Buddy Macatee, Don Scanlon, LN "Bill" Sparkman, Wilson Schoellkopf, Mack Strother, and Jim Vickers. The family would especially like to thank our special extended family Bernester (JR) Tilley and Susana Marquez for all the many years they have taken care of Mom and the family. We also are very thankful to Joe and Peter Lynch for the excellent care from Reachout Home Care. Our appreciation and love go to Mom's doctors and family friends, Dr. Lyle Kaliser and Dr. Wyatt Rousseau; nurses, Charlotte Mbida-Essindy, Corina Harrison, Shirley Cooks, Suzzanne Kennedy and the entire devoted staff on 515 West, Presbyterian Hospital for their compassionate care towards Mom for the past couple of years. Mom was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed but will always be remembered for her strength, courage, wisdom, grace, quick wit, unwavering faith and unfailing spirit. A private family rosary was held on Monday, with a funeral mass that was held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, Rev. Don Fischer presided. The committal service followed at Calvary Hill Mausoleum, with the reception immediately followed at Brookhollow Golf Club, 8301 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Hospital Healthcare Foundation or Trans Mississippi Turf Scholarship Fund.
