GREEN, BILLY CHARLES
SSGT US AIR FORCE
VIETNAM

Billy Charles Green, 58, of Belle Fourche died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006 in Belle Fourche.

He was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn., the second youngest of six children, to Jesse Martin Green and Thelma Louise (Whitehead) Green. Billy Charles Green was a truly unique soul. He had a great love for discovering the inner working of things, and often times as a child was found tearing apart mechanical items to find out how they worked. He entered the United States Air Force on Oct. 11, 1967, spending time in Vietnam, England, Italy and Australia before being honorably discharged on Oct. 6, 1971.

Billy was married twice, unsuccessfully, before finding the love of his life, Marie (Marie Elizabeth). They married on March 13, 1983 in Memphis and in August 1984 the couple gave birth to their only child, Jade. Billy worked for Mapco Refinery for 21 years before his family relocated to Belle Fourche in 1995. It was a rough start, but soon enough they had made a home for themselves. Billy worked for quite a while at Turbiville Industrial Electric Works, before moving on to a range of jobs involving maintenance work and most recently was employed at New Generation Feeds in Belle Fourche. In 2005 Billy lost his wife, Marie, to cancer. It was a devastating blow for him.
In his spare time Billy was usually found shooting pool or taking long rides on his motorcycle. He was dearly loved by his family and friends alike and will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marie.

Survivors include his daughter, Jade Marie (Jason) Courville of Fayetteville, N.C.; three brothers, Joe (Peggy) Green of Terrahaut, Ind., Everett (Marlene) Green of Loxahatchee, Fla. and Willis (Linda) Green of South Haven, Miss.; two sisters, JoAnne (Andy) Berretta of Memphis, Tenn. and Carol (Wayne) Barksdale of Villages, Fla.

Burial with military honors will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

The family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church in Belle Fourche.
