Mrs. Abernathy, 61 years old, died early Tuesday in a hospital in Poplar Bluff. The former Miss Sarah E. Phillips was born at Morley on June 13, 1897.
On December 12, 1912, she married Joseph M. Abernathy of this county, who survives.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by nine children, her father, James Phillips of Fredericktown, MO; one brother, five sisters, 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Four daughters preceded her in death.
Last rites will be held Thursday at the McGee's Chapel Church west of Glen Allen, Rev. Verdell Jackson, Pentecostal minister of near Marble Hill will conduct the service and burial will be in the church cemetery.
