Carolyn L. Auwarter, 69, Ottawa, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at her home.
She was born December 24, 1946 in Oakland, CA. She was the daughter of Calvin L. and Mildred L. Baker. She grew up on a farm near Americus, KS, attended Americus Grade School and Emporia High School. She received her Bachelor’s in Education Degree from Emporia St. University. She taught elementary school in Ottawa, KS several years before taking time off for family and to get her Master’s Degree from the University of Kansas. She went on to obtain a Reading Specialist’s certification from KU. She was a Reading Specialist in the Olathe, KS school district for over 20 years where she made a major positive impact on many kid’s lives. She was also the very proud recipient of the very first Olathe School District’s Top Teacher award.
She married Lawrence (Larry) Auwarter on January 22, 1966. Carolyn Loved her God, her Husband, her kids and, of course, her teaching profession, and lived the kind of life we should all look up to.
Per her fervent request a closed casket private interment will be held at the Americus Cemetery in Americus, KS.
