Born in Globe, N.C. to the late William and Martha Green Bristol he was a self-employed farmer, logger and nurseryman and a member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. He worked in a ship yard during WWII building the “Victory Ships”.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Eugene Messer Bristol ; a son, Holland Craig Bristol, Jr. and seven brothers and two sisters.
Surviving Mr. Bristol are one son, David “Bill” Bristol and wife, Laurie of Horse Shoe, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Sue Bristol of Morganton, N.C.; nine grandchildren: David Bristol, Jonathan Bristol, Justin Miller, Craig Bristol, Laura Smith, Lisa Patton, Jeff Bristol, Richard Bristol and Daniel Bristol and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Special thanks to Mary Sue Bristol, Becky Frady, Patricia Beam, Vicki Owens, Geraldine Pendley and all the members of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church for their support and care in his later years.
Services will be held 11:00 o’clock Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Stockton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Burke County.
