John A. Paxson Dies at Brookside Home
John A. Paxson, 71, of No 2 Elm street, Brookside, died at 11:10 pm Friday pm at his home after an illness extending over a period of five years. For the past year his condition had been serious and he had been bedfast for the past two weeks.
Deceased was born in Mt. Pleasant, on September 28, 1863, a son of Eaton and Jane Murdock Paxson. He became interested in the coal industry early in life and became prominent as an operator. He retired about 12 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Devault Paxson, and two children, Paul J., at home, and Mrs. Clyde Boyd, of Brookside, and one granddaughter, Marnadale Boyd. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Amon G. Paxson, of North Zane highway, Martins Ferry; Amos H. Paxson of Vine Street, Martins Ferry; Mrs. Louisa McCarty of Martins Ferry and Mrs. Barney Conaway of Malvern, Iowa.
