Suffolk - Pierson L. "Pete" Eaves, Jr., 90, went home to be with his Lord on October 27, 2016 after a long and happy life. He was the first baby born on January 1, 1926 in Selma, Alabama, to his late parents Mary O. Eaves (Tatum) & Pierson L. Eaves Sr. Married to the love of his life, Amaryllis C. Eaves for 66 wonderful years. Survived by three children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two brothers. He was predeceased by his sister Theresa Norris. Retired from the US Navy as a Chief Commissaryman after 21 years of honorable service during WWII and Korean War. He served on the USS Santa Fe, USS Sole and various small craft, was a plank owner of the USS Norfolk. Retired after 17 years working for the US Postal Service. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and making penny banks to sell at craft shows under the name of Pete's Pet Place for 15 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association #60 and a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church until moving to Suffolk and joining Westminister Reformed Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be held Wednesday November 2, 2016 at 12:00 pm at the Parr Funeral Home with Chaplains Don Miller and Phil Holwager officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday November 1st from 6-8 pm. Burial with military honors will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery following the service at 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association , Southeastern VA Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA, 235002 or Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, 3488 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23434.
