She was the daughter of the late Carroll and Goldie (Hawkins) Gilliatt.
Bonnie was raised and educated in Mazon, graduating from Mazon High School, Class of 1949.
She began nurse's training at St. Francis College in Joliet, completing her education at Morris Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed with the hospital for over 30 years.
Bonnie also was the Administrative Director and Director of Nurses at the Grundy County Nursing Home.
She married Billy Murphy on July 16, 1953 in Hernando, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2010.
Bonnie enjoyed playing Bridge, going to casinos and wearing 'Bling' jewelry. A favorite pastime was her Weitz Cafe coffee group.
She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her children; Randy Murphy and Aaronda (Steve) Neuwirth; her sister, Sandi Schramm and her nephew, Kevin (Kelly) Schramm; grandchildren, Michelle S. Murphy, Jessica M. Salgado, and Rande (Josh) Keleshian; great-grandchildren, Coso P. Stone, Makenzie B. Keleshian, and Lilith J. Keleshian; great nephew, Zachary Schramm San Antonio, Texas; niece, Ashley (Shawn) Bowlden.
