John Robert "Bob" Blaisdell was born April 7, 1913 in Bradford, Illinois; one of six children born to the farm family of John Raymond Blaisdell and Julia Bernice (Cooney) Blaisdell. Bob excelled in football in high school and was captain of the football team. Bob met Doris Bentley in high school and never dated anyone else. They married in Bradford on September 17, 1938 and had 72 years together. They were blessed with three daughters and two grandchildren. Two of their daughters had special needs and Bob and Doris were always champions of that cause. Bob earned a Bachelors and Master's Degree from Western Illinois and Northern Colorado State Universities. He was a high school teacher, principal, personnel manager and Sr. Vice President for Seismograph Service, retiring in May, 1978. Every summer was spent in Colorado fishing and camping. Bob was a member of the Catholic Church, the Geophysical Society and held many positions in the American Association of Retarded Children, HOW handicap workshop and Home of Hope. He was recognized for work in helping develop programs for special-needs children. Woodworking was his hobby and he made many lamps, bowls, candlesticks and other beautiful pieces.
His words of wisdom for others are: "Eat a big country breakfast and have a glass of wine every night".
Bob was inducted into the Oklahoma Centenarian Hall of fame at the age of 104.
